It is guaranteed, if I start doing anything, hoping that Eddie will not involve himself,  he will appear lightening fast. 

I have a workshop, specifically still life workshop, coming up this week. 

Playing with some ideas, seriously hoping no one ,(Ed), would show up while I'm working and eat my roses. 

Doesn't seem like a lot to ask.

May as well hoped he (Ed) had purchased a winning lotto ticket with intentions of sharing it with me. 

Of course he showed up.  And stayed.  Knocked  things over, chewed on a few flowers, then sprawled out to soak up (and block) the sun.

It's Ed.

That's how Ed rolls.

On a more personal note:  This is one time Eddie "showing his tail" worked to my advantage....

To meet Kitten you must take a trip to the country. 

Way out in the country. 

All the way to a road called Toadvine to a place named Sabbath Song. 

 Sabbath Song is a B & B

 owned by a beautiful lady named Carolyn. 

Carolyn is an artist and her husband Wes, is a composer. 

They have horses,

English Mastiffs

and no cats. 

Kitten is the neighbor's cat. 

He came over to visit on my last visit to Sabbath Song. 

 He walked right in the back door of the converted barn that is now the B & B and jumped up in my lap, up on my chest

and started nudging his cheek to mine. 

He made the rounds to all who were there

tried to swipe some food from the table

and then headed back outside to go on a big hunt for the day.

That's just how Mr. Big Paws rolls:))

and yet I would swear I'm standing on solid, unmoving ground.  

 It's the quiet place in this ride called

Life 

 From there

I can peer out and see that all the tumult and busyness is just an illusion.  

 From there

I can enjoy the beauty, the  music, the sights and sounds.   

From there 

I can love and heal.   

From there 

peace can be experienced.   

From there 

balance can once again be gained 

strength made manifest 

to ride upon the winds of change and time. 

Centered 
in the merry-go-round of Life.

Whispers.
 Snickering. 
And then... dead silence when I walk in the room.  Eddie is up to something, I just haven't figured out  what.  There are some clues, but all seem  unrelated.  First, he has been watching a lot of TV lately, which normally I don't mind since it keeps him out of my hair.  But then I walked in and caught a glimpse of what he's been watching......

Yesterday a signed contract where he has hired a stunt double (see photo of Mickey) turned up in the mail.

And perhaps most disturbing of all, a proposal to do a reality TV show..... at my house.
Phyllis let it slip that he's now interested in adding Edditing to his credentials. Translation?  Hours of filming  condensed to make himself look like---well, probably Eddie  Depp
and hours of film edited to making me look like......
Like I said.  I'm worried.

It denotes all sorts of things.  Especially when used in conjunction at a hotel.  In Italy. 
I have my own set of definitions for the "be my guest" phrase. It includes things like--
"Be my guest" (Don't make the bed)
"Be my guest" (Don't do laundry)
"Be my guest" (Have breakfast in your room)
"Be my guest (Have breakfast in your room in bed)
"Be my guest" (Have breakfast in your room in bed after sleeping half the day away)
"Be my guest" ( Have breakfast in your room in bed after sleeping half the day away because you are reading a great novel)
"Be my guest" (Have breakfast in your room in bed after sleeping half the day away because you are reading a great novel about this phenomenal woman having this amazing time in Italy)


"Be my guest" (To finish this story however you want.  A hotel, you and Italy-- and nothin' but time on your hands:))

Note:  Don't ever tell Eddie to "be your guest".  He has his own definition.  And no, you probably don't want to know--trust me on this one.

When I was a kid my Mom would tell me I had better get myself lined out or she would do it for me.  Somehow I don't think she was referring to hanging laundry. 
Well, here I am....a few decades later and I still don't have myself lined out.
But I do like  fresh laundry when it is.

It's a curious thing.  We usually find in life that for which we are looking. 

I always loved the simple test of challenging a room full of people to look around and take note of everything red.  Then have 'em close their eyes and name the blue things in the room.  This is usually met  with dead silence.  When the same folks open their eyes and look around they are surprised to see...blue carpet, blue chairs, BLUE everywhere!  How could they have missed it??  In looking only for the red, they were blind to the blue. 

So I told myself to look for color, lots of it, before I go crazy in this snow. 

At least that's my story and I'm stickin' too it.

Note:  I have some rose color glasses to loan if you need them.

That is if I can get them off of Eddie......he fancies himself as a Johnny Depp look alike with them on (since Johnny is from Louisville and has a home in France, Eddie has drawn the obvious conclusion-- they are twins, separated at birth.)

It has been snowing since Thanksgiving.  Okay, maybe not everyday, but it has, for the most part, been on the ground  since then.  

Cabin fever has officially hit.  Not that I live in a cabin.  Or have a fever for that matter. 

 But somehow, home-in-the-suburbs-if-I-don't-get-some-sunshine-and-warm-weather-soon-I-am-gonna-scream, 

doesn't have quite the same ring to it.  So we're going with cabin fever.

I have caught Eddie online, twice now, surfing the "all inclusive" resorts in the Caribbean.  Thankfully his searches go something like..."cat resorts, catnip plantation tours, cat-friendly beaches" so I am not too worried on him scoring a place, otherwise I would take back my credit card he has hidden in his room under his bed. 

He asked me to post his painting of him with his grass skirt and island hat (Phyllis on top) to help remind him that balmy days are still happening somewhere on the planet.

"Eddie and Phyllis on the Best Seller List???"

Well, things have just gone to a bad stage of worse.  Or worse stage of bad.  Sculptor Steve Worthington's long awaited book, The Mouse Project, has "hit the stands", in a manner of speaking, and Eddie's already over inflated opinion of himself has gone through the roof.  Worse yet, his fan base is growing, as witnessed by the gathering of Phyllis wannabees below....

The only good thing about this is that the profits from the sale of this book will go to animal shelters.  Eddie has spent the entire evening practicing his signature, complaining that he what he really needs is a Mont Blanc pen.  Phyllis has been giggling with excitement at the prospect that her and Eddie will be doing a "book tour" (this is according to Eddie of course), staying in posh hotels and ending up with an appearance on Oprah.  He's had Phyllis drawing up a contract of sorts, detailing goldfish crackers and tuna flavored jelly beans to be in his dressing room.

On a personal note:  This collaboration has spawned not only a series of paintings of Eddie and Phyllis (8 and growing!) but has brought 22 artists together in a joint effort to help make life better for our fur bearing buddies.  With the holidays just around the corner, this book makes a perfect gift for the animal lover in your circle.

Today's mission is to thank an administrator.  The one I have in mind is a a behind the scenes guy.  Literally.  I have never seen him!  But his efforts impact me every day.  Choices he made 5 years ago now expand me and my work to a new audience on a daily basis.  He does such an awesome job.  He is an idea man, an innovator, pays attention to detail, quick in response, and has created an online world for artists to grow, sell, and share what they do.  He is the genius behind Daily Painters--an online site for ...well, daily painters!  His name is Micah Condon, and thanks to him

  And there it was.  Glimmering and  shimmering-- like a soda fountain in the middle of the dessert.  Me 'n' you, bicycling and talking our way down old Italian streets.  We were, in effect, a gelato incident waiting to happen.  I told you not to get the third cup (one has to build up a tolerance for this-- I have been cultivating mine for quite some time).  You should never listen to Eddie's suggestions.  He always has an agenda.  Thankfully he didn't have his camera on him, so no matter what he tells to whom, we can deny the details to our dying day.  What happens in Italy stays in Italy.

It's Friday.  And I am thinking you are needing a place to get away .  Somewhere where no one knows your name and you can sleep as late as you want and stay up as late as you want and eat what you want.  It's on a side street,  a bit off the beaten path but an easy walk to the corner market to pick  up fresh chevre and some home-made  olive oil to dip your bread in.   There's some great Merlot and lemoncello in the cabinet so help yourself.  My only tip is---don't tell anyone where you're going. Especially if his name starts with an Ed and ends with a 'tude.  Dude with a 'tude.  That's all I'm sayin'.
