• My new favorite movie??  Midnight in Paris.  Shocking I know--me and a movie about Paris.  Who'd a thunk it.  It's out in theaters now and it is one of the most enjoyable movies I have seen in a long time.  Eddie and I are giving it a 4 Paws and 2 Thumbs Up.  We LOVE it!!
• I will be drawing for two winners (May and June) for my monthly giveaway.  If you haven't signed up yet to receive my blog and newsletter, be sure and do so to get your name in the hat---Eddie is charge of the drawing but I am in charge of what the prize is, so you're in luck--otherwise you would be getting an autographed head shot of Ed, suitable for framing (according to him).

Re:  Thanks--Just had to say--I am so appreciative of all the sincere thoughts that were expressed in regards to the loss of my mother-in-law, Jewell. It's like an invisible army of love--both Ron and I are very grateful to each of you.

A word of promise. A place from where one can actually see what is there.

No longer around the next bend in the road, covered in mist, dropping away from us.

An entrance to. It takes action on our part to move into the place we see. It is there, within reach.

It is a time and place that is a pause. We are between what has been and what is almost now certainly here.We reflect.  It is good to reflect, to understand how momentous this is.

We welcome this robust demarcation line between. No gray area of sides. That was then . This is now and just on the other side, the future. My future. Your future.

Is it a coming home or a journeying forth? Depends on where you are headed and where you have been. It doesn't matter. What matters now is that you are here, now, at the opening to,  the entrance of your life.

Are those words music to the ears or what? 
It denotes all sorts of things.  Especially when used in conjunction at a hotel.  In Italy. 
I have my own set of definitions for the "be my guest" phrase. It includes things like--
"Be my guest" (Don't make the bed)
"Be my guest" (Don't do laundry)
"Be my guest" (Have breakfast in your room)
"Be my guest (Have breakfast in your room in bed)
"Be my guest" (Have breakfast in your room in bed after sleeping half the day away)
"Be my guest" ( Have breakfast in your room in bed after sleeping half the day away because you are reading a great novel)
"Be my guest" (Have breakfast in your room in bed after sleeping half the day away because you are reading a great novel about this phenomenal woman having this amazing time in Italy)


"Be my guest" (To finish this story however you want.  A hotel, you and Italy-- and nothin' but time on your hands:))

Note:  Don't ever tell Eddie to "be your guest".  He has his own definition.  And no, you probably don't want to know--trust me on this one.

Ever notice how easy it is to share the things we love?  A favorite food, a good book, a new CD.  In fact, in our love of it, we are most anxious to press it on those around us, certain that as much pleasure it has brought  us it will surely do that and more for another.  Well, it strikes me that is how Venice is.  It is a place to be loved and shared.  An amazing place that "walks on water", defying everything that makes sense for how a city is supposed to be.  And it's this very oddity that makes it so sweet.  Gondolas that glide silently 'tween marvelous walls that make us catch our breath.  Venice, a place to be shared, just for the love of it.

#30Thanks Day 29  

Today I am thankful for something that may seem a bit silly.  My phone..:))  My little purple phone that I carry with me, stuffed in my purse, laid on the dash of my car, slipped in a pocket while painting.  It's so small, can be annoying at times, and costs me money.  But...and this is a big  BUT...it allows me to hear my daughter's sweet voice like she was standing in the next room, almost everyday, and she lives 2500 miles away.! It allowed me talk to my sister while she lived in Germany for 8 years and now keeps my in touch with my friend Bill who lives in Berlin.  I can talk to Ginger in Shanghai and do a radio show with Leslie in California (and we both did one from two different islands in Hawaii this past September!).  It even helps to catch Eddie when he is acting silly ......

  It sends me sweet notes from my hubby at the most unexpected times...:))   It lets me connect with friends who live both near and far away and make plans to see each other.  In a word, it doesn't make me wait.  I can scarcely imagine if I could only talk to my girl the few times a year that she either flies home or I fly out to see her.  I would be one sad momma!  So today I am practicing active gratitude for my little phone and all the beautiful people in my life that I can reach out and "touch" any ole time I want!!

#30Thanks Day 27 --Thanks for belief, for hope--it makes all the difference.

When the world seems flat, don't believe it.  Just because the roundness can't be seen from where you stand....it doesn't  mean a thing.  Absence of belief in its roundness does not make it flat..:))  A few years back there were two schools of thought on just that very thing.  The world did not flatten because some believed it to be so.  It stayed, fully shaped, waiting....for someone like you, with lots of hope, to set sail towards their dreams with vision, with faith, and with hope.  Anything is possible when we believe.

You just gotta think that if you are the one living up above here, your view framed by periwinkle blue ---that the coffee and pastry smell is wafting up through your window every morning.  Delicious!  I am betting you have made friends with the proprietor and now have breakfast delivered to your door, allowing you to sit on the window sill and take in the morning in your p.j.s. 

When you're fully awake and have sipped down the last of the coffee, your carriage awaits.  Don't tell me you didn't see it.  It's your trusty blue bicycle waiting on you...:))  Lots of exploring to be done today and you've got nothing but time.

  And there it was.  Glimmering and  shimmering-- like a soda fountain in the middle of the dessert.  Me 'n' you, bicycling and talking our way down old Italian streets.  We were, in effect, a gelato incident waiting to happen.  I told you not to get the third cup (one has to build up a tolerance for this-- I have been cultivating mine for quite some time).  You should never listen to Eddie's suggestions.  He always has an agenda.  Thankfully he didn't have his camera on him, so no matter what he tells to whom, we can deny the details to our dying day.  What happens in Italy stays in Italy.

Your ride awaits.  Sun on shoulders, mind clear, heart light.  It's a great day to be pedaling on centuries old streets.  You know what this means.  You will need to stop for some gelato to cool off with.  Girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.  Just a warning.  Eddie wants to ride with you--something about letting the breeze blow through his whiskers and such.  Whatever you do, don't let him talk you into it.  It's all fun and games 'til someone gets their tail caught in the spokes.  I'm just sayin'.
