Cool morning air
Morning gray not yet lifted
The trill of birds
Cooing of doves
Meandering path through native flowers of all description
Window shutters in blue propped open by overflowing window boxes
And now the ancient old church bell has added its tone to the morning hum
and gives it all away--
It is my very first morning in Le Vieux Couvent, Frassinet, France
When I started to retire last eve, my mind was filled with “what should I do first tomorrow, how can I fit it all in, squeeze every bit of good from the day”
And my mind was immediately answered back with one word.
Gratitude.
Take time in the early morning for quietness, to simply sit in gratitude for this time, this place. As I often do on my own back porch in Kentucky, it is the way to start the day here.
Joy, beauty, and peace are everywhere. It is more divine, more the better choice, to pick out of all the things I might clamour for---the time to simply be.
To breathe.
To allow the day to shape itself.
To not impose my will upon it.
To smile, breath and go slowly.
It could be anywhere, except it isn’t:))
Today, the first morning at Le Vieux Couvent--and you are with me in spirit my friend:)))
