"Everything's Rosie in Maysville, Kentucky"

"Peace"
20 x 24 oil on museum quality panel

It's a wrap in Maysville!

Day 1--Barbara Lowry brought Rosemary with Rosemary Brushes as a gift from her, Eddie and Phyllis.
Day 2--My painting for the day was "Rosie Days Ahead in France"
Day 3--I remember one of the many reasons Maysville, Kentucky is such a special  river town.
The great Rosemary Clooney is part of the heritage here.  Yep, George Clooney's aunt and one of the great talents of our time is a big part of the history of the area.

So I guess it was only fitting (Mambo Italiano) that our first days work was of flowers....in where else, Italy!!

Check out the bountiful harvest of flowers!! These girls (ladies) worked hard. I don't think they left for lunch that day. They were working when I took off and rooted in front of their easels when I got back. I had to threaten them to come up and watch my demos:))
These gals love to paint!

The Artists!
Donna, Claudia, Rhojean, Barbara, Betsy, Linda, Vicki, Nancy, Judy, Brenda Sue (AKA BS), Teri, Cheryl, & Sandy

I would like to say there were 9, count 'em 9, repeat offenders in this class.  I am either doing something really right or something terribly wrong.
I have not decided which it is as it is dependent on how well behaved they are.
I chose not to include the pic of one Rhojean actually sticking her tongue out at me.
That's what I'm workin' with folks.
I fear Eddie's bad edditude is rubbing off on some of them....!!

Some rosie paintings from Day Two of the Maysville workshop:))

 woMEN AT WORK

Painting

and painting the days away.

And there were not a dozen plus carmel apples rolled in nuts at the workshop.
Who started that rumor anyway????  (thanks Sandy!)

And thanks to Ohio River Valley Arts Guild for giving us a good home to paint in for a few days:))
Lots of great camaraderie with all the artists made for an awesome Maysville 2011 Workshop!

Only one more workshop before 2011 closes out----Lexington, KY---ready or not, here I come!!!

P.S.  For those of you who are interested in some of the brushes, signing tools, etc that I use in my workshops--you can have a look by visiting my art supply store::))  Please ignore any suggested "cat" gifts that may appear there from time to time.  Eddie just loves him some good shopping... with my credit card!

"Sitting Pretty in Italy" SOLD

"Sitting Pretty in Italy"
12 x 12in oil on museum quality panel
$550

Today was Day 1 of my workshop in Maysville,KY.
Nearly an hour drive through the heart of the country, my day started with view after view of those kind of things  that bring a calm and steadiness to the heart.
Foggy mists lying in valleys low, strong morning sun streaming through colorful trees--and a few cows that looked my way, albeit a bit disinterestedly:)))
It was a great way to ease into my next to last workshop for 2011.
I feel so honored to meet and teach the people that somehow have found their way into a workshop with me:))  Their energy, their beingness, is truly a gift.

And who would have guessed.  Eddie...in an attempt to clean up his bad boy reputation--ACTUALLY SENT FLOWERS!!!

Well, actually, it was Rosemary---with Rosemary Brand brushes attached--and they weren't sent, they were delivered in person by artist Barbara Lowry who said Phyllis was part of the game plan too.  I actually think Barbara and Phyl put it together.  I can't imagine Eddie thinking of someone besides his own little furry self.

Guess I'll find out when my bill hits.  If he indeed was the gifter, he will have, no doubt, gifted me via my own credit card---that's how Ed rolls.

And I can't wait to try the new brushes!!  I have a feeling Eddie was only on board for those because he thought it would be a "brush his fur" kind of brush...

Workshop photos heading your way, so stay tuned:))  Wish you were here painting with us!

In Other News:  "Dreama's Favorite Art Stuff"  I get emails asking about lots of things-- from how I photograph my work to what colors I use on my palette and what books do I think are the best--so I have created a little store with just those kinds of goodies in it:))  My favorites and why.  You can have a peek by clicking here.

When I take a look at life
so many, if indeed not all
of the best, sweetest, dearest things that I have

found Me.
They are not mine because of my
stressing, fretting, striving, controlling
Or any number of things I have done
To try and shape my life.

It is good to pause and remember
Probably the best gifts we have
in  life
 Have come to us

 Unbidden

"To All the Cats Ed's Loved Before" SOLD

"To All the Cats Ed's Loved Before"
8 x 8in oil on museum quality panel
$350

Eddie has been singing all day.  I probably should just stop there and let you ponder on that for a bit.

But then you need the lyrics to get the full effect.

"To all the Cats I've loved before
Who've wondered in and out my door
I'm glad they came along
I dedicate this song
To all the Cats I've loved before"

Guess what comes  with a cat who has had several lives??  A lot of past cats to sing about.
Then there's the problem of   Eddie's voice.....

He ain't no Julio  Iglesias

Anyhoo, he was so full of himself,  belting out his tune, I figured I might as well capture him at his romantic best (?)

Eddie has offered to send a tape of himself singing to the purchaser of this painting.
I have declined the offer for you to save the experience of that awkward moment.....

Please Note:  This is No. 10 in the "Catalicious Series".  To see the rest of the collection, click here.

In Other News:
I often get questions about what books I can recommend, what brushes I like to use and even what music  I like to listen to when I paint.
So I decided to create a little store with some of my favorite studio things in it.  You can have a peek by clicking here:)) Pin It

"Gated Beauty" SOLD

"Gated Beauty"
8 x 8in oil on museum quality panel
$350

Roses showing bare restraint, corralled but not hidden, by gates of blue and buildings old.
Perhaps more impacting because we didn't expect to find them,
 in this place,
on that street,
by the tumbled down house,
on an absented farm.

Isn't that precisely the beauty of the journey,
The not knowing what hidden delights lie ahead,
down any old road we happen to find ourselves on:)

(Course it never hurts when the road is in France.....)!

And in other news--out of all the winners reading this (yes, I'm talkin' to you) there are three winners whose names have been drawn to receive their choice of one of my books.
Emails have been sent out---better check your mail:))
Eddie and I are so excited we can scarcely stand it!
Eddie says if you didn't win, not to worry.

It's the yin and yang of life...

P.S.  sometimes Eddie worries me.

P.S.S.actually most times Eddie worries me.

"A Little Piece of Provence" SOLD

"A Little Piece of Provence"

Somethings are just too rich.
Like an entire slice of "Death by Chocolate" cake
(although, I must admit, sounds like a heck of a way to go:))
Or chocolate milk with a chocolate iced, cream filled donut.
I think, just maybe, that Provence comes under that heading.
That is why today I am just serving you just a slice.
If you sneak back for seconds,
I will not be held responsible.....

"Don't Worry, Be Happy" SOLD

"Don't Worry, Be Happy"
8 x 8in oil on museum quality panel
$350

Apparently, Eddie does miss me--in spite of all the caustic text messages I have been receiving from him.

As in:

We r fine without you.  I did not eat the last can of tuna--Phyllis is using it to sit on to brush my fur

I did not use your American xpress Card to order fur cream.  The package just got dropped off here by miztake

Glad you r gone.  The cleaning grils came and I did my best to leave lots of fur fer them to vacuum up

I caught on when the airlines emailed me and said to please quit calling in that squeaky voice to see if my round trip ticket was still good.  Evidently Eddie thinks that maybe I am not coming home...(translated....who will support his furry buns???) and has taken to sitting at the window on the lookout for my car to pull in the driveway.

Naturally, Phyllis, no doubt the one who called the  airlines, is trying to fill in the gap of my absence.  Along with her usual Eddie duties, she has taken to creating a playlist of songs to keep his spirits up:

"You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby"

"Your Too Sexy for Your Fur"

and one of my favorites...

Don't Worry, Be Happy::)))!!  (click here to listen in:)
