The play of early morning light on a colorful French balcony are undeniably pleasant.  You can feel the crispness of the air calling you to come sit with your coffee in hand and listen to the stories the birds are telling.  Let your hair down and truly be yourself---no one here knows you --it's time for the real you to come out and play....:))

"Laundry Day in Tuscany"---funny how laundry just sounds better the minute you put Tuscany in the same sentence with it.  Suddenly, I could do it all day, if I was hanging out in Italy....:))  Especially knowing I could "reward" myself later with some gelato......

Bet I could even bribe you to do the laundry....I'm just sayin'.

And now inquiring minds want to know.......

"Where's Your Dreama Original??" Send me a photo of your Dreama original in it's new home-- I would love to see where you put your painting and why you chose that spot...:))... I will be sharing the paintings and their stories on my blog and in upcoming newsletters. Tell me your story!

"La France Pour L'ete"

$200

Ahhh.....la France pour l'ete'.....France for the summer.  The minute the windows are flung open, all the  memories of past summers come rushing back.  Books to unpack to be read later, a  paint box of watercolors, and lots of pen and paper for writing.  That's about all that's needed.  French countryside provides the rest.  Roses blooming just outside the window, sun shining on weathered walls and endless summer days.

For now, just lean in the door way and take it all in....the first day of summer in France.  What are you gonna do?

Nestled up against sun warmed stone walls, the white bench beckons.  Come sit a spell in this quaint French town.  You never know who will wander by and decide to sit with you to share stories.  Surrounded by a shady bower of vines, geranium scent hanging heavy in the air, friendships come easily.
I know--you are curious as to why you are not in the picture.  Well, you just left to grab a bite to eat (fresh mozzarella with homegrown tomatoes) and share a glass of wine with a new friend .....Old benches, new friendships, just another ordinary day in France!

"Bliss Blue French" SOLD

"Bliss Blue French"

$200

Periwinkle blue is a favorite color of mine.  Obviously I am not alone in this ----  turn down any street in the south of France and you're likely to happen upon this delicious color dusted onto shutters, doors, gates and the like.  And what always makes the blue so blissful is the addition of just the right touch of pinks and reds in the way of a scented welcome.

On this spring day, I am heading out to the market to pick up a loaf of fresh baked--what else---French bread..:))  Later my friends (you know who you are...:)) and I will share it, with a big dollop of creamy butter, and sip our glasses of Merlot together....and since it's such a lazy, blissful afternoon.... we'll spend the rest of the day curled up in overstuffed chairs with our favorite books.  And maybe take a nap....Eddie says 16 hours of sleep a day is just the right amount....:)  This is one time I am not going to argue with Eddie....

How is it that even the most mundane thing--- like laundry--- can fold  itself into a thing of beauty when surrounded by flowers and stirred with the fresh breezes of Provence.  Truly some of the most simple things in life hold within them such incredible gifts.  The smell of blanchisserie fraiche (fresh laundry) brings a sense of wholeness and  hope--a reminder of the goodness of life.

So today, as you remove the clothes pins from your laundry on your French balcony--take time to bury your nose in the scent of a beautiful life...who said doing laundry couldn't be fun..:)))

"Anticipation.....March and April Winners Announced!"

It's never to late to make someone happy. Or maybe even two people...:))  I finally got my butt in gear and had the drawing for March and April painting give-a-ways.   It is truly so much fun to do.  I have been giving away a painting a month for over a year now and the thrill of doing it never grows old!  Eddie did the drawing for the very first one, when I didn't have but a few people signed up for my newsletter and blog.  Nowadays, with him being a model and all, he refuses to turn a paw to help......catadonna that he is.
so without further ado, and no help from Eddie--the winners are Kim from  Canada  and one other person to whom I have sent an email and am  awaiting their reply.   Congratulations to both!!

Now in the spirit of giving away--forward this post to 5 of your dearest friends  and have them click here to sign up for my email newsletter so that they to can enjoy a chance every month to win one of my paintings..::)))

"Italiano Entrata Gated" SOLD

"Italiano Entrata Gated"
6 x 6 in oil on museum quality panel
$200

I love a good mystery and there is mystery with the gated entry.

Especially when the gate is iron and framed with roses. The spacing of the bars on the gate allow for air and sunlight to pass through, but keep out the stresses of life. It is a private garden, an oasis of coolness, that offers respite.

Today this is your place. Only allow in those with a ready laugh, open to living their life with arms wide open.....drink in the divinity of life at its best...:)

And when you have rested and are ready to leave, slip the key behind the bush on the left. Only those who read this will know where to look for it...:))

Now get on with your day--only you and me know you started the morning out in Italy!

P.S. If you would like to know how to leave a comment on my blog, click here..(each comment left on my blog = another chance to win one of my petite paintings that I give away each month!)

Simple colors, simple pleasures. The French seem to have an unerring knack for pairing things. Blue-stripe market umbrella + salmon pink flowers = thrill up spine..:))
Add to that a perfect sunshine day in Auvignon and you have the perfect recipe for a place to daydream.
So--- today I am serving iced tea with a fresh lemon wedge and sprig of mint under my blue stripe umbrella. Eddie, of course, is asleep under the roses.....:) You can join me or make up your own story for the day---
It doesn't cost a thing to daydream or smile...:)))

Scooping up colors that look good enough to eat and icing them onto a slice of Italy. Maybe that's why I love to paint....

And the fact that I have to support Eddie. I worked 'til late. Eddie napped.

That's how Eddie rolls. It's good to be Ed.

"Balcone di Amore" SOLD

"Balcone di Amore"
6 x 6in oil on museum quality panel
$200

Painting this coastal balcony in Italy reminds me--- how precious each little piece of the world that we make ours, actually is.

Hands, not as young as they one time were, spreading out a well worn, but well loved cloth on a table for two.

Plants watered and spoken too.

Deep breaths taken of sun warmed air.

We bring the gift of ourselves to everything we touch. Perhaps that is what makes me so happy when I see these minuto balconies with their arms so full of such things that we humans find precious. What each of us has that goes into all these things---that thing that fills all the space and then some....

Amore....Love!

May you have a love of a day.

May the plants nod their heads to you when you pass.

May the birds sing their song just for you.

Just for the day, may you be infinitely aware!

"Back in the Saddle (Studio) Again..:)"

I have been out of pocket for a week plus change. I have missed painting, being at my desk writing, and as much as I hate to admit it.... I have even missed Eddie. I like to think he missed me as well, but the truth is...

when I returned home, I assumed he would be meeting me at the door as I trundled my heavier than ever luggage in , but no Eddie. I called for him, sure he would come running down the stairs. NO Eddie.

At this point I am starting to be a bit concerned. I have had my brother in law staying with him and some workmen in the house--maybe he had snuck out the door.

So I head upstairs with my heart beating a bit faster calling for him.

No Eddie.

Then I thought to look under my bed.

And there he laid. Looking me dead in the eye ......and yawning.

And that was my welcome home from Eddie. So much for how you think its gonna be after watching a few owners reunite with their pets in the Disney movies. Obviously the Disney writers haven't met Ed.

However, my trip out west was something I will be on a high from for days to come. I ate my way through 3 cities, visited with my daughter and her friends in LA. Got to meet, Live and In Person....Leslie Saeta and Julie Hill---two great California artists (photo below) I was able to see Leslie's new show that had just gone up, Headliners, which was a great experience, see her studio where she creates all those incredible palette knife paintings, and have lunch with her and Julie.

I then headed into San Diego and met with a gang of my artist buddies there including Carol Foster, Steve Maddy, Susan Roden, and harpist Amy Kanner along with other friends I visited with at Spanish Village in Balboa Park.

Friday was road trip time--heading over the desert into Phoenix AZ for the Martha Beck conference. Martha is author of some of my favorite books (Steering by Starlight, The Joy Diet and Finding Your Own North Star) and a regular contributor to O magazine. I am in the process of becoming a certified life coach through the Martha Beck program and took the opportunity to travel out to meet her and some of the other great life coaches in attendance. It was a phenomenal time. Totally an enriching experience. And Martha has one of my books...:))) Says she keeps it out for inspiration (Martha paints too!) I was so thrilled!

Tomorrow I will be back in my studio painting, chasing Eddie out of the way, trying to stay ahead of Leslie Saeta, getting caught up on email ...in other words...things will be back to my state of "normal"....::))
